Udaipur, also known as the 'Venice of the East' and the City of Lakes, is crowned by the City Palace.
Begun by Maharana Udai Singh II and expanded by his successors, it's eleven palaces joined into one. Start at Badi Pol, walk up through Tripolia, and leave time for the terraces at the top: the lake, Jag Mandir and the Lake Palace spread out in one view.
