Quick answer

A 3-day Udaipur trip costs roughly ₹6,000–9,000 per person on a backpacker budget, ₹18,000–30,000 per person mid-range, and ₹60,000 or more per person for a palace-hotel stay, not counting travel to Udaipur. Hotels are the biggest cost; entry fees for all the main sights add up to only about ₹1,500–2,500.

Key facts

  • Main sights' tickets for 3 days: about ₹1,500–2,500 per adult
  • City Palace museum: ₹300–400 per adult
  • Lake Pichola boat: about ₹450–600, sunset slot ₹700–800
  • Unlimited thali: about ₹300–500

The good news about Udaipur is that the things that make it special, the lakes, ghats and sunsets, are mostly free. What you spend depends almost entirely on where you sleep and eat. Here’s what three days really cost, per person, sharing a room. Prices were last checked in October 2026 and change with the season.

Where the money goes

Food. A kachori breakfast costs under ₹50. An unlimited thali at a local hall is ₹300–500. A lake-view rooftop dinner is ₹1,200–2,500 for two, and fine dining at the palace hotels much more.

Getting around. Autos within the city are ₹80–250 a ride. A car with driver for a full day of sightseeing is usually ₹2,500–3,500. See our car hire page for a quote.

Five ways to save

  1. Visit between April and September, when hotel rates drop sharply.
  2. Watch sunset from Ambrai Ghat or the Fateh Sagar pal, which are free, and take the boat in the daytime.
  3. Eat lunch as a thali. It is the best-value meal in the city.
  4. Group sights by area: Old City on foot, then one auto loop to Fateh Sagar, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Shilpgram.
  5. Book the car only for the day you go out of town, like Kumbhalgarh or Ranakpur.

What not to skimp on

Spend a little on one sunset: the boat, the Karni Mata Ropeway or a rooftop table. It’s the memory most people take home. Want us to plan around a fixed budget? Tell us your numbers and we’ll suggest a trip that fits.
